Definitely trolling but to be fair the removed U& channels were on Sky transponders and not UKTV's own transponder.

@xenon81  doesn't change the answer has far as ownership is concerned though

broadcasters can lease space from any transponder even if it's not their own

they are closing on SKY SATELITE not SKY GLASS or SKY STREAM

A channel owner saves money by closing a satellite channel because they pay the satellite owner for each megabyte of data transiting the orbital platform: that's typically several million pounds a year for HD resolution.  When faced with a need to cut costs it's an obvious option, particularly if their audience analysis suggests they'll retain a reasonable number of viewers on an SD-only service.

The press release won't confirm your statement that uktv doesn't have a contract with SES

Where is the hard written evidence to support that

This press release for example, from 2023?

In addition to the renewed transponder for UKTV’s bouquet of channels, the agreement will see SES provide new uplinking and ground services and give UKTV the flexibility to add additional capacity to expand to more channels in the future.

"We have relied on SES for distribution of our video content for many years and we are pleased to extend our agreement with additional services,” said Andrew Kemp, Head of Operations at UKTV.

Even if they are on the Comcast beam uktv still own the hd versions of their channels within the sky hd pack and can remove that from the sky hd package if they choose
