@ZKTV  As already pointed out earlier on in the thread it is channel owners UKTV who have removed them, Sky have no input into what channels should or shouldn't be on satellite contrary to popular misconception.

Not sure what Sky has to do with this?

Will this do?  https://rxtvinfo.com/2025/sky-announces-major-reshuffle-and-hd-channel-closures/

UKTV, the commercial broadcaster owned by BBC Studios, will axe HD versions of its U&W and U&Yesterday channels on satellite. If you use Sky Q or Sky+HD, you will continue receiving these channels in standard definition only from the beginning of April unless you switch to Sky’s streaming TV platform (Sky Glass/Sky Stream).

The satellite is not owned by Sky despite any media incorrectly reporting it as "The Sky Satellite", however it is coming to the end of life so unless the owners SES/Astra either launch a replacement or move a spare satellite to 28e all channels will be lost on satellite come 2030.

I trust you have read @GD1 's post above yours

It would appear that the owners UKTV have decided to reduce their costs by closing the Satellite HD channels.

UKTV is not SKY & the Satellites they use, whilst also used by SKY, are not owned by SKY but  owned and operated by SES

UKTV have their own agreements with SES

Where do you think RXTVInfo get their news from?  Do you really expect members of the public to have the press release?

As you say SKY launched on Astra 1A in 1989 - the same Satellites operated by SES in Luxembourg also carried many European channels such RTE & Sat1 in Germany  amongst many others - as the Astra '1' Satellites at 19 degrees continue to do

SKY moved to Astra 2 Satellites which are mainly targetted at the UK & Ireland later but SKY  still don't own the Satellites - The Satellites also have the Freesat Channels (which are availble via SKY boxes as well as Freesat and other FTA capable receivers)

The same Astra 2 Satelites also carry some African channels

I suggest we all leave this now. @ZKTV is clearly just spamming the thread and won't listen to answers.

Bye.

Viewers across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland will continue to enjoy their favourite TV programming as SES and UKTV agreed to extend their capacity agreement at SES’s key TV neighbourhood at 28.2 degrees East through the end of the decade, both companies announced today.

In addition to the renewed transponder for UKTV’s bouquet of channels, the agreement will see SES provide new uplinking and ground services and give UKTV the flexibility to add additional capacity to expand to more channels in the future.
