Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - November 2022

As usual I am getting a little confused. Some of these posts I think should be on the Sky Q and ITV Hub thread.

Turning to this thread. I watch most of my television on my Sky Q box through my Sky dish. As a back up if anything goes wrong with my Sky dish or Sky Q box  I can also watch a lot of channels through my aerial but not of coursev Sky Sports and BT sports etc

I assume SD channels will disappear on both outlets. What will happen to ITV Plus 1 and other Plus 1 channels which currently I think are only on SD.

If this has already been covered apologies as there are a lot of posts on this thread

Which SD channels are you referring to  & why do you asssume that ?

Any 'plus 1' channels will stay in SD  - My own feeling  is that very long term I suspect plus 1 channels will die out

Different things :

BBC is due to replace its current Regional SD channels with HD versions - I am not sure of the timetable - it has begun the transition - when all regions are in HD then I think the 'national' HD feed will cease.

Edit I suspect Freeview SD may continue for quite a while as the BBC cannot assume all TVs can receive HD.

ITV already has SD & HD for its regions and I,  personally, have not seen anything to say they plan to close all their SD versions  - although as time goes on and they look to cut costs further they may close/merge more of them (like they merged several plus one channels)

They certainly plan to stop the regional BBC SD channels, but not until they have all been replaced with HD versions.

As per the links above, anyone with an old SD only Sky box will lose access to BBC channels if they don't upgrade their box.
