Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - January 2022
iv just found out that disney is closing all its national geographic channels on sky in february and disney said the rest of their channels on sky will close later in the year but all content will move to disney plus if disney keep removing their channels from sky (witch they are doing) there soon won't be many channels left on sky or on demand content on sky so i hope sky do something about it as sky will lose a lot of channels and on demand content so i hope somehow sky add more channels of their own if they make more or team up with someone/sometching else to get more channels added and when these channels leave sky in february and BBC three launches in february there will be a mini epg reshuffle on sky tv guide
thanks

Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - January 2022
@Anonymous what other disney owned channels are there left on sky other than Nat geo and Nat geo wild?
The only other one that comes to mind is an Indian channel (Correct me if I am wrong)
Where is this announcement that they are closing Nat geo?

Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - January 2022
Saw this rumoured online but don't know what truth there is behind it. National geographic are advertising new programmes starting in February. Is there a source for this?

I did some googling and only thing I found was that it was happening in Latin America. Checking digital spy and I don't see any thing

Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - January 2022
Noticed that over the weekend, Paramount channel is advertsing a channel rename to 5 Action.
The official press release says;
On 19 January 2022, Paramount Network in the UK will become 5ACTION.
The channel’s EPG position will remain unchanged and can be found as follows – Freeview 32, Sky 150, Freesat 132, Virgin Media 150 (HD) & 187.
Home to big characters and big stories, the channel features a high-octane mix of drama and factual entertainment titles.
As part of the Channel 5 portfolio, 5ACTION will provide a seamless blend of old favourites and modern classics. Key titles include WWE; Police Interceptors; Fights Camera Action, Trucking Hell, Traffic Cops; Caught on Camera and Sewermen.
The channel proposition and programme line-up will remain the same when the channel rebrands.

There's no evidence as yet this is happening. There's plenty of Nat Geo on demand content on Sky and Now with expiry dates throughout 2022 (and beyond). The original poster of that thread had previously claimed it was ending 1st January 2022.
Digiguide also has listings for Nat Geo on 1st February, featuring a lot of content related to China, for the Chinese New Year.
So this is probably best treated as a rumour at present, until any other sources confirm it.

And there's nothing official in that thread to show that NatGeo is shutting down in February.

Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - January 2022
As I've observed elsewhere, the NatGeo channel family is somewhat different to the rest of the Fox stable acquired by Disney due to its origins in (and remaining part-ownership by) the National Geographic Society and the continued use of trusted branding associated with that venerable charity: while this won't necessarily save it as a broadcast service in the long run, it does potentially raise additional obstacles to full Disneyfication.
