I understand that adverts were removed from many TV channels on Thursday and beyond in respect to the Queen.
But how is removing adverts a sign of respect to the Queen? Did the Queen not like adverts? Are adverts too "upbeat" for a country in mourning?

The last time a British monarch died commercial television was still three years in the future.
Literally no-one knows how to do it 'properly'.
