Re: 50% more live Sport for FREE... with Sky Sports+

For clarity, does this mean that live sport on Stream will be available to watch from the beginning at any time if you are unable to watch it from the start?

When I say free, I mean at no extra cost on top of whatever you pay for Sky Sports already obvs....

'while the dedicated Sky Sports+ linear channel will showcase a selection of the best live sport.'

Hang on a minute, isn't that what Sky Sports Main Event is.. 🤔

Well Main Event is designed as a showcase for the existing Sky sports linear channels, so i'm guessing the linear + channel will be a showcase stream from the Sky Sport + platform.

I'd be thinking like it'd be an overflow channel from the other ones.

Atp and wta tournaments both on, one will go to sky sports + etc, like sky sports mix but the big difference being needing a subscription for sky sports.

Stupid question but does the amount of times clubs will be shown with the 3.00 pm blackout still inplace mean alot of games will be moved out of the traditional Saturday afternoon slot? Thinking about fans attending the games.

The way I read it. Perhaps a few more than currently but not as many as it initially sounds.

The 'every club 20 times' includes every midweek round of games, every Carabao Cup game and several rounds where 3 o'clock kick offs are also being broadcast live, including the opening day and bank holidays.

Well the 3pm blackout seems to be disappearing in a.way for the EFL by the fact that on the opening and closing day of the season ALL EFL matches are being broadcast including those at 3pm. I'd imagine as a result some 3pm games will be shown on Sky Sports + on other match weeks.

On the first and last weekend of the season, they can show 3pm matches as there won't be any Premier league matches on then

The target per the guardian is to show 10 league matches in normal weeks, 5 from the championship and 5 from the other two leagues.

Yes. The reason for the introduction of Sky Sports+ is mainly as a modern red button as the EFL matches will need to be played in blocks, e.g. 5 of the matches will be played at 12.30pm on Saturday's. It's logistically the only way to do it around Premier League commitments and the blocked hours.

The general order of play will see roughly 5x Championship and 5x Leagues One/Two broadcast each weekend. That will leave 7x Championship and 19x Leagues One/Two at 3pm.

There will be at least 14 new interactive channels broadcast on satellite (and probably more via Internet) for Sky Sports+. The satellite channels are testing as 401- 2 to 401- 19 at:
12090 V DVB-S2 8PSK 27.5 2/3.

I doubt they're all for Sky Sports + - the press release for the new service is clear that access will be to live streams (not new channels) with one new channel.

The first one (7840) might be the one 'best of' Sky Sports + linear channel and f ar more likely they're the new DVB-S2 versions of the current Sky Sports/Cinema channels which switchover from DVB-S to DVB-S2 some time in May.

They may well have additional streams available (for Sky Q, Stream and Glass users, plus in the Sky Sports app), but nothing in the press release for the new service suggests they'll be adding more than 1 new satellite channel.

As those channels are listed as SD I also think that the 'new' channels listed will be used for the switch over of SD channels from DVB-S to DVB-S2

As for sports, I can't see any more than the one channel already  mentioned for Linear TV.

I am confident that the rest of additional content will be streamed over the internet and available via Red button on Q/Stream/Glass and the Sports App on other platforms like a lot of Sports additional content such as F1 'In Car' feeds

Isn't the normal way channels are labeled though "401-' would suggest Sports

No, they're just temporary labels. One of the channels is labelled 7840, for example.

We know that all the premium sport and cinema channels are changing to DVB-S2 this month, but that new sports service doesn't start until August, so the timings match these being the changes to the existing channels.
