My mother has recently had Sky fibre connected to her house and now her landline runs from her router - all is good in this respect. However the second phone in the house now no longer works and a Sky engineer has said that she needs a splitter and to run a cable all the way from the split at the back of the router to wherever she wants the second phone to be even though a splitter is not currently available to do this. Surely there is a simple way to get multiple phones to run off the new router.....

The simplest solution would be for her to purchase cordless DECT phones. The base station phone plugs into the Hub. She can then place additional linked handsets wherever she wants them. They just need to be near a normal plug socket. They then are automatically linked to the base station phone. She can buy them at retail outlets such as Argos.

Yes. The simplest solution is to buy a cordless DECT phone with as many handsets as required. The DECT base unit plugs into the Hub, and the cordless handsets communicate wirelessly with the base unit to make and receive calls. They're not unduly expensive.

I thought as much - not sure why the Sky engineer complicated the matter...

Nor me, I believe it's not a Sky-supported solution either. Was it a Sky engineer or Openreach? I suspect the latter.

I suspect that was a clumsy attempt to explain 'Voice Re-Injection', which Openreach prototyped a specific faceplate for but appears not to have manufactured in any quantity.
