Did a standard corded phone work when plugged into your router? Are you new to Sky broadband/landline? If so, when was your service activated? Do you have a black Hub, or white?

Phones need more than just a power supply.

They need to be connected to a dedicated phone socket or compatible socket on router.  A router would usually need a RJ11 adapter.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Does your broadband Hub have an LED on the front panel labelled 'Voice' and if so is it lit?

@Distichodus that would suggest that you don't have Internet calls, and your phone's base station needs to be plugged into your wall phone socket, not your rputer.

Either, that, or there's a fault with your phone service.

Try the wall socket.

Have you been specifically told by Sky that plugging into the router is now required at your address?

The target date for the national switch-off of PSTN is now revised to December 2026, and your area may not be scheduled for changeover yet, in which case moving the handsets over is only required on new broadband orders or upgrades.
