Sky no longer provide only a broadband service. It's bundled with a Sky landline.

Is there a particular reason for  wanting to keep your landline with BT?

yes, because i do not want to be reliant on internet based phone in case internet is down- i still need to be contactable by phone

Fair enough. Be aware, though, that it's only a matter of time before all service providers, BT included will turn off the analogue phone network. The switch off is currently scheduled by Openreach for 2025.
