Wrong phone line ssocket on superfast router

Hi,    Just set up the superfast router into my home.  The internet is working ok..

The superfast modem came with the BT style socket for the phone line. The BT phone mail socket has one outlet so I used the grey cable.

All my phone have RJ45 plugs on them, so obviously wont fit. The instrctions in the modem box seems to say that there was an adapter in the box, but not in mine. . What is the ROI socket on the modem for, that is RJ45.

There is NO dialing tone from the phone.

Please advise.

Thank you

Greg

Re: Wrong phone line ssocket on superfast router

Hi Looking at some of the other posts, I saw that someone suggested that the original BT cable from wall socket must be used. I have just found this, plugged in both ends and the phone now works.

BUT still no dialling tone. Is the phone line set up as a pulse type line? I will need to enter  numbers to say what choices I need, eg, 1 for this, 2 for other and so on. Especially for the doctors surgery.

Thanks

Greg

@GreggD no, definitely not pulse dialling. Yes, the cable that previously plugged into the wall socket is the one to use. You say there's no dial tone - in what way is the phone working?

Do you have a black broadband Hub, or white? When was your Sky broadband service activated?

So it's not really working.

The correct cable is typically RJ11 into the phone handset and 'BT jack' into the UK socket on the Sky Hub.

Almost certainly RJ11, which is a telecoms connection.  RJ45 is typically used for ethernet data.
