Unable to get action from sky to resolve my telephone connection to sky router

I have contacted sky and am no further forward with somebody from sky getting my landline connecting with sky router

@DRUMLEMEN 

Presuming you have plugged the handset or base station into the rear of the hub what happens when you try to make a call? What happens when someone calls your number?

I cant connect to my hub as i dont know if sky are using mylandline no or not. I f i dial my analogue number prior to sky nothing happens. I f i dial my mobile no from skylandline after after connected to sky hub nothing happens.

Having plugged the phone into the appropriate slot in the rear of the hub dial 17070 from the landline and listen to the outgoing message to see what number is connected. 

 

Alternatively check the Sky app or take a look at emails sent by Sky about the service.

 

Sometimes you will need to wait up to 24 hours after installation before the landline in fully operational.

dialling 17070 does not do anything. i get a continuous intermittent tone.

i have been waiting since Wednesday of last week for sky to solve my problem. they sent me a second hub which made no difference to my predicament. Outreach engineer advised that he believes the problem is from Sky.

last phone call on saturday from sky india requested i send three photos

1. photo of my phone

2. photo of back of router

3. photo of bt wall connection.

i sent him the photos.

he then said he would advise his superiors in sky of my predicament. not heard anything from sky since saturday.

Another Sky rep from India told me earlier on Saturday that only wifi phones can connect to the sky hub which was totally incorrect.

Nobody from sky advised me whether they allocated anew telephone no  or would utilize my phone no i had used for the last 16years

Unless you specifically requested your old number to be ported over Sky will most probably issue a new number.

@DRUMLEMEN if you've switched to Sky from another provider, your phone will need to be plugged into your broadband Hub. 

 

Do you have a white Hub or black? Do you have a full fibre broadband service with Sky, involving a separate fibre optic cable to your home and a new ONT box on an inside wall?

I was with now tv(Part of Sky). I dont have full fibre broadband and I have plugged my landline into my hub in accordance with all sky instructions. No problem with broadband

@DRUMLEMEN from previous posts, it appears that there are particular technical issues when porting your phone number from NOW, and it's quite likely you've been given a new number I'm afraid.

 

While not normal, there's sometimes a bit of a delay while Openreach carry out the necessary switching - in my case, it was a week before my phone line was up and running. It's not within Sky's control.

 

If you haven't done so recently you could try restarting your Hub, by switching it off at the plug for 10 minutes (if it's a white Max Hub, leave it off for an hour). Failing that, it may be a frustrating matter of waiting for Openreach to do the necessary.

Openreach are blaming sky. I did not request porting so it should have been quicker, and openreach advised me it is all the fault of Sky. I have now been 5 days waiting and am getting frustrated. If it is not solved soon I will do away with the landline via Sky as I can use my mobile phone for calls and texts.
