Sky won't release my landline number to BT

I moved from Sky to BT 10 years ago but when I moved house in August and tried to keep the same landline number BT said they could't as Sky wouldn't release the number.

I can't imagine why Sky might refuse to release the number. More likely BT didn't ask for it to be ported. Unfortunately it's too late now anyway to do anything about it, I'm afraid.

Numbers can only be ported within the same property from one provider to another

when moving home it is the norm for all providers to renumber

i believe only bt can move numbers if you are in the same telephone exchange only.

if you moved in August and it hasn't been done at the time it suggests bt forgot and released the number back to the range holder when they turned of the service at your old address
