Scam phone calls made from my landline

My bill was an extra £78 this month and calling Sky was told that 144 calls were made from my landline, to an 0344 number. On examination some of the calls were made at exactly the same time for a few seconds., over the period of a month! As we weren't at home (on holiday) these calls are definitely not ours, has this happened to anyone else?

Do you have a burglar alarm or home care system that could be causing this by dialing out ?

@Carole101  Are you able to tell the community what the number was connected to?

I have since found out after being on the phone with Sky for an hour, that it is indeed linked to the burglar alarm, an Openreach engineer had been out a month ago to repair the broadband and then has mixed up the lines! It had been dialling out a number several times a minute and that's how the bill was racked up, however, it can't be reimbursed ☹️

Good job it was an 03 number not an 08 number or it might have been a whole lot more expensive!

@Carole101  Interesting that it was a mistake by Openreach and yet you are having to pay for it. Would think that Sky would look to help to get it fixed and then get Openreach to pay that bill as they are the cause of it.
