Porting Virgin Landline number to existing Sky Talk account

I'm midcontract with Sky, I never use the landline that comes with my broadband. I'd like to port my number from my virgin landline to my sky broadband line to save money. 

When I phone Sky no one knows if this is possible. The closest answer I get is I need to cancel my Sky contract and apply for a new one. The problem with that is I will incur cancellation fees. 

Can someone help please.

I believe that to be correct. To my knowledge, Sky can only port a number for customers switching to Sky or on their initial sign up. I don't think Sky (or any other provider?) have the means to port a number to an existing Sky line.
