Panasonic kx-tg8421E Not Answering Calls Since Move to Digital VOIP

Hi all, hope someone can assist, just been moved over to the voip system, land line still rings can make calls, but when someone calls and I'm home I no longer can hear the answer machine saying out loud no one home, when I have called using my mobile I can sill hear that it does indeed say no one in right now to the caller, just that it doesn't say it loudly from the base unit anymore.

Have googled seems like I need an ATA adaptor?, has anyone else had this issue if so what adapator have you bought and does the base unit work again etc? I called sky they say they don't provide them, wish they made customers aware when moving over this would be an issue, BT seems to provide them for free to their customers when they've asked about them, so why can't Sky???

@Scrivens30 the ATA adaptor is contained within your broadband Hub. You don't need an external one.

Are calls coming through to your landline phone ok if you pick up before your answer machine kicks in? If your answer machine picks up the call, are messages left by the caller recorded ok?

Re: Panasonic kx-tg8421E Not Answering Calls Since Move to Digital VOIP

So why doesn't my voice recorder kick in?

Hope I'm explaning things correctly, I sit at home phone rings, phone base unit used to pick the call up and say out loud so we could hear the we're not in, caller would leave a message that we would be able to hear too, now phone just rings then stops as gone to voice mail, we no longer hear the message nor the callers message out loud, when I call the phone from my mobile I can hear the message via my mobile saying were not in, just can't hear it in the room out loud like before on analog.

So in answer to your reply, calls working as we can make and receive calls, messages left play back fine from the base unit we can hear them, we just can't hear the base unit anymore when at home state out loud no one in nor can hear the callers message out loud via the base units extreal speaker.

As I say all worked fine on analog now swapped to voip or whatever its called we've lost part functionality with the base unit, so I suspect can't be played out loud as it's analog.

When I spoke to someone at sky and did an internet search said we need an ATA adaptor, a post I saw online same issue althought they were with BT, exact same handset and issue to mine, advised to get an adaptor

@Scrivens30 my understanding from your post is that your Panasonic is working normally, except that you no longer hear the outgoing message or the caller speaking when the answer phone service picks up the call.

You could check your phone settings to make sure the call screening service is still turned on (page 37 of the handbook). If that's not the problem, it may be the result of some sort of incompatibility between your phone and Sky's internet calling service. We've seen occasional problems reported here with older handsets, such as yours. Panasonic UK support may be able to advise.

What comes out of your broadband Hub's telephone socket is analogue - no different from a standard wall phone socket, so an ATA adaptor isn't needed (presumably why Sky don't provide them).
