Migrating landline (same number) from Now to Sky - not possible?

Hello all - after some advice please for my mother please.

My mother was  on sky broadband and talk many years ago. She later signed up to Now Broadband and has been on that for several years.

She wants to go onto a basic sky tv package (Sky Stream and Broadband with Talk - she can't have fibre as she doesn't have a mobile and needs a regular phone for emergencies). However, Sky customer service state that they cannot migrate her phone number across as it's with Now and that she needs to sign up to another provider and then migrate across to Sky within that providers 14 day cooling off period.

Is the above correct?

Yes, it does appear from previous posts that Sky can't port a phone number from NOW. I don't know whether the adviser's bodge workaround would actually work, I'm afraid.

This is surprising, as I switched over from NOW to Sky back in November (also not full fibre) and my number ported across with no issues.
