Transferred service / activated to Sky today from Vodaphone and been allocated a new landline number to replace number had for 34 years.
When I transferred 2 years ago from Sky to Vodaphone was able to port the old number over, now moving back to Sky lumbered with a new number and associated hassle.
Relevant points -
Transfer to Sky was via online and was not requested to ask to retain old number, assumed old number automatically transferred over.
New Sky service from today FTTP whereas Vodaphone contract was old copper line.
My expiring Vodaphone contract runs until 13th December so my old number is theoretically still active?
Ofcom stipulate 30 day period to port numbers across providers?
What is the process to appeal, how do you elevate it within Sky, Sky rep just insisted can't be done.
Thanks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere's a check box to tick if you want to retain your number when you switch to Sky. Notwithstanding that, other posts have highlighted difficulties when switching from a copper based service to fibre.
You could try raising a formal complaint, but I'm not confident that it will be possible to regain your old number.

While Ofcom has an 'expectation' of number portability, it doesn't actually insist on this where one or both providers claim there are technical obstacles which prevent it.
