Lineline showing as busy but we are not using the phone.

Our landline is showing a permenantly engaged to incoming callers. I have checked and we have no dial tone so we cant dial out either

 

I have tried unplugging the phone line from the router and restarting the handsets but our line is is still showing as busy.

 

Our briadband and stream tv are  working ok.

 

Please can someone help as I have tried the sky virtual assisstant but that was not at all helpful.

@Msh14568 checker your Service Status for any known faults via the link in the help guide here. Also try the connection test, even though your broadband seems to be ok. I assume your phone isn't plugged into your Hub via a microfilter. .et us know the outcome.

Thanks. I got as far as identifying the type of BT/Openreach socket (type 5c). 

 

I unplugged it and reconnected, unplugged the phone from the max hub, restarted the hub and reconnected the phone.

 

We now have a clear line again.
