Length of ring before voice mail starts

How can I extend the phone ring time before 1571 voice mail kicks in. I would like to set it at 12 rings.

@geoffskybrownI am not sure this can be changed with 1571. But you would be best giving Sky a call on 150 about this. If that does not work then have to look into getting an answer machine that then fits your needs.

If someone has helped give them Like.

I agree. So far as I know,Sky don't have a way of doing that, but do give them a ring to confirm.

Re: Length of ring before voice mail starts

Hi,

Somewhat puzzled by what I have heard and seen here.

I recently upgraded our talk package to include the 1571 answer phone service.

However, my wife (mobility issues) was unable to get to answer the phone before it switched to the answer service – i.e., it only rang 4 times (we believe)

I contacted SKY yesterday and the first operator (overseas me thinks) had no idea what I was talking about then proceeded to go through security questions again before transferring me to an ‘expert’ ~ annoying.

The ‘expert’ was pleasant and understood what I was saying but had never been confronted by this question before and didn’t really know the answer.

I was told SKY would disconnect the 1571 service and reconnect it and see whether that changes things (it has been disconnected and we are still waiting to reconnect). [Doesn't make a lot of sense to me - eithere it is configurable or it is not]

I have also spoken to ABC (NOT the real name to be anonymous) the maker of the phones we have – I explained the problem and was asking if I could add another handset or just a charger.

ABC suggested in their first email

“If you contact Sky, they will be able to extend the number of rings before the calls goes to their voicemail service”

ABC suggested in their second email

“We are quite surprised however that they are unaware about this, most providers are able to change the voicemail activation delay.“

I understand the 1571 service is a SKY service (not a BT service) and would have thought the number of rings would be configurable by SKY or the SKY subscriber.

Could someone please help resolve this issue?

There are ways around the problem - another handset nearby - avoiding having to get to the base station but seems a simple request and something I'd have thought to 'easy' to provide - either configurable by SKY or the user

Simply, I don't believe Sky offer the option to configure the number of rings. Like you, I doubt that disabling and re-enabling the 1571 service will make any difference.

Re: Length of ring before voice mail starts

Just spent 35 mins waiting for a response from 150.

They said they cant increase, so I've cancelled 1571 and will buy a new cordless set with answerphone.

Bleedin' useless !!
