Landline phone constantly bleeping. Unable to make or receive calls or access 1571.

My landline phone constantly bleeps and I cannot make or receive calls. I cannot access 1471 or 1571 and if I ring in using my mobile, the answerphone voice comes on immediately and just says the message box is full. The fibre broadband works fine though, and I have tried all the online equipment checks with no in house faults found. I have tried different  phones and filters plugged in, with no change.   Is this an external line fault or is the full message box which I cannot access due to the constant bleeping, causing the phone line blockage.

I have had the unusable phone problem now for a week with no answers from the Sky email help service.

Sky don't provide help via email, which explains the lack of a response.  Does your broadband Hub have a Voice light, which is lit amber or green? If so your phone must be plugged into the Hub, not the normal wall socket.

No phone green light showing. Just the three power, internet and wireless green lights. The landline phone has been fine for the last two years until this bleeping problem a week ago.

Try the connection test here (even though your broadband is OK). If it detects a fault you'll be able to book an engineer there and then.

 

Failing that you'll need to report it directly to Sky. Either give them a call, or if you prefer we can flag your post here and an adviser may be able to help via the Community's private online messaging service.

Thanks for reply, I have run the internet line check but it comes up as fine, internet running perfectly ok, as per spec at 76.

The landline is still bleeping though as it would if a message were waiting. When I dial 1571 or 1471, the engaged bleep comes up, so I still cannot access the landline. I am busy during the day so I have limited time, and when I ring sky, all I get is robolady, who keeps saying “I am sorry, I did not get that.”

I may have to leave this till the new year, or try changing back to b.t. to get a working telephone landline service. I do not know what else I can do.

I have the same problem. Cannot make or recieve phone calls on the landline and my phone handsets sayd "Check Phone Line" which I have done but nothing changes.  I do the online checks and it says the line is fine.  Broadband is working fine but I need the phone for my elderly mother.

Have you run the connection test?

Well,well. I was away for Christmas so turned the router off, having given up on the constantly beeping. Much to my surprise, upon returning and switching the router back on, I picked the phone  up and it had magically returned to normal. I quickly dialled 1571 and cleared the message box. Back to normal thank goodness. Never experienced a problem like this before.

 

Thanks @Mark39 for your help. I wonder if having the router off for several days somehow cleared the system, even though the phone is not over the internet but a landline phone. I had reset the router and tried all the checks you suggested previously, but found no faults. I wonder if the holiday router longer reset than the previously tried few minutes reset did the trick.

Anyway, thank you chaps on sky community for your help.

To get you some help with this I have escalated your post to the Sky Messaging team who will be in touch with you regarding this via a blue/red chat bubble which will appear at the bottom of this page. It can take up to a few hours to be contacted via this.
