Landline disconnects in the middle of the night and activates an alert on my speaker which wakes me

I live in a Retirement Village and have an alert speaker in the Hall, this is connected to my internet phone, the phone line disconnects in the middle of the night which alctivates an alert which then wakes me up, so I have to come down and re-set my Hub.

I haven't come across this before. Does it happen at the same time every night? Is the alert speaker connected directly to the phone socket at the back of your broadband Hub?

No it doesnt happen every night  and never at the same time.

My Speaker cannot work without my landline.

I was wondering if Sky were doing any nightime maintainece in my area which would cause this to happen.

Not Sky, but Openreach may be. I'm not sure that Sky would be aware of it, if they were.

My Speaker is on the wall in the Hall and has its own phone socket, it is not connected directly to the Hub.

You mentioned internet calls in your first post, which would require a connection to the Hub, not the wall socket. Just to check - does your broadband Hub have a light labelled 'Voice' and is it lit?

I'm thinking that if Openreach were working in the area then I would not e the only person affected, as I live in a Retirement Village every property has the same speakers.

When this issue happens he voice light turns orange, I have to unplug the phone line and then plug it back in or sometimes re-set the box and then it goes back green and everything resets.

If it was durng the daytime - not a problem, but it wakes me up in the night with the alert.

@JJ+Richa

Have you checked with your neighbours and maybe the building management company?

I'm not sure what's happening here, then. When you have internet calls from Sky (the fact that your Hub has a lit Voice light confirms that you do), the landline service via your wall sockets is disconnected. The only connection to the phone line is via the socket at the back of the Hub, unless some sort of custom connection from the Hub to the sockets has been put in place (which I doubt Sky would support).. Without knowing how the call alert system works I can only guess that that's the cause of the problem.

Is that Sky, or an engineer arranged by Sky?

If not, and you need some help from Sky let us know and we may be able to arrange it for you.

No I contacted Reception and they have sent an onsite person round to check that everything is properly connected.

Thank you I will get back in touch if need be.
