How to change your landline phone number

I have been on the phone to sky for about two hours with about eight different call centers in various countries requesting a new landline phone number none of them seem to understand how to do this and are being beyond unhelpful, I cannot find anything on the website and I am now completely stuck as I am getting spam phone calls every day and my landline number has been hijacked by spammers and they are calling other people who then call me saying they've missed my call, I am incredibly frustrated and banging my head against a brick wall can anybody help

@DON.DON  Have you tried to turn on Sky talk shield to stop these calls coming in if you don't know the number?

Your landline hasn't been hacked, what is probably happening if these scammers are spoofing the number they are making the calls from to make it look like they are coming from your number.

Have you enabled the Sky Talk Shield as this should help to block these calls get through to you::

I don't want to use the sky talk shield I've used it before and it's very impractical I just want to change my phone number that's all I'm asking them to do but they don't understand I just want my number changed

@DON.DON  With having Sky Talk shield available and your life is not being threatened with no police involvment they will ask you to use the technology that is alreay in place for this type of situation.

Thank you for the advice but again I don't want to use sky shield I want to change my number and I would just like to know how I go about this when no one on the sky phone seems to understand what I'm asking for

@DON.DON neither Sky nor any other provider will change your number because of nuisance calls unless they're threatening and you've reported them to the Police and have a crime reference number

If they were to do so to accommodate nuisance calls, they'd be inundated.

In what way do you find the Talk Shield impractical? Perhaps we can advise.

Unfortunately changing your current number cannot prevent exactly the same thing happening with the new one.
