Home phone number hasn't been ported - it's essential as my husband has Alzheimer's

When setting up my Sky contract I insisted that my home phone number has to remain the same  - so it needs to be ported as my husband has Alzheimer's and has had the same number for 40 years which he knows. Changing to a new number is impossible - if he got lost he wouldn't be capable of remembering a new number. So it is extremely important that we have the old number - for his safety and my peace of mind. Can anyone advise me who to contact - I have flummoxed the Sky virtual assitant thanks

How long ago was your Sky Broadband/Talk activated? Is the landline working albeit a different number?

Sky do say it's not always possible to keep your number.

@JanSoprano24 Sky can't guarantee that you'll be able to keep your number. If it's a critical factor, I'd stay with your current provider.

That's not something which can be 'insisted' on, and it would be misleading for any salesperson to say it can be guaranteed.  Ofcom decrees that number portability is 'generally expected' but accepts that there may be technical reasons why it's not possible.

@JanSoprano24 Sorry to hear about your husband. If the number can't be ported maybe you could have some kind of laminated card printed with your details on it to go in his wallet? That way if he is lost anyone who tries to help him can find it and get hold of you.
