I switched to Sky from BT on 29 January including the Talk package. My phone worked perfectly up until the switch. Broadband worked perfectly from day one but my landline hasn't worked since. Despite numerous calls to Sky I was finally told on Wednesday my DECT phone was not compatible. There was no solution given and only after contacting BT today did I learn I need an adapter. I have full fibre installed and believe I have been switched to digital. Would buying an adapter restore my landline service?

If your phone is designed to work with BT's digital voice service, Sky are right that it's incompatible with Sky' VOIP. I'm not aware of any adaptor available to make it compatible.
A standard DECT phone, or a corded phone should work fine.

Thanks for your reply Mark39. My phone is plugged into the hub and I hadn't yet switched to digital with BT. BT informed me this morning that Sky had switched me to digital and that's why I'd need an adapter (RJ11??). I wrote an email of complaint to Sky on Wednesday and have yet to receive a call (supposed to be today an advisor informed me earlier). I cancelled my talk package on Wednesday but apparently 'pay as you go' comes automatically with the broadband package. Wasn't the compatability something that should have been checked out if that's what they are telling me now. Apparently BT supply the adapter to their customers if required!

If your phone base station previously plugged into the wall socket (possibly via a microfilter) then the same cable should plug directly into your Sky Hub instead. An RJ11 is just a type of connector.
Sky VOIP is designed to work with any standard phone, whether cabled or cordless. It appears to be only a small number of older phones that won't work.
Do you know the model name/number of your BT DECT phone?
Yes, the Pay as you Talk package is provided by default to all Sky Talk customers. There's no monthly charge. Each call is separately charged, so if you make no calls, there's no charge,.

My phone isn't a BT phone it's one I bought, a Panasonic KX-TG6621E B. It's always worked perfectly and I use it a lot (or did). I'm completely puzzled as to why it's not working.

It might be worth getting hold of a cheap corded handset that you can plug in, in place of your cordless phone to check.

Do you have green 'Voice' light on the front of the Sky Broadband Hub?
All ISP switching now results in voice calls being provisioned over IP, because ISPs can no longer purchase wholesale PSTN service. Checking compatibility isn't a thing, other than the pre-sales check questions about attached medical alarms and other 'vulnerability'.
