True, but the whole Dect phone thing is confusing.
i could not find any phone at Argos that said it was Dect. Even the one I bought which works. Doesn't mention Dect in the spec at all.
thanks again for your help though.

Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications has been the mainstream standard for domestic telephony since the 1990s: I'd think it's essentially impossible to purchase a new analogue cordless handset anywhere these days: those won't have been manufactured for many years.

Had a call from Sky stating that my phone line will be activated today as it has been ping across, there was an issue with the porting, so why were sky telling me it was down to open reach, at this point my phone line is still not working, wonder if there is a complaints procedure, rerally not happy with the service i have received from Sky. Until my line is activated I will not know wheter or not i need another phone, its a joke

Thanks for that complaint sent, a question if i may, if my phone line has been ported over to Sky should i still be getting a dialing tone on my copper cable bt socket, as my curtrent phone is still plugged into the router white max hub

The phone I will use is an 8 yr old BT dect phone, when my phone is finally activated through the white max hub, if the above phone does not work, I will obviously have to get another, however if the line is activated and the phone don't work, will the line still ring but not the phone to know it's activated
