Fault on landline - seems that I am talking over the other persons voice
Reported landline fault last week (14th) My telephone had message on screen "check telephone connection" I had checked it was plugged into master socket ok. by disconnecting and connectiing twice. Checked all four cordless phones were fully charged. The Sky agent recognised there was also a problem with the Broadband speed dropping off to below the expected level. I arranged for BT Openreach to send an engineer. Two days prior to ther engineer calling at the house I noticed the message had gone and the landline working. Engineer arrived Tuesday 18th and found a problem on the front plate of the master socket and replaced it. I thought all was well until I made and received phone calls. After talking for a while there is some sort of what I can only describe as some sort of delay which makes me sound rude as apparently I am talking over the other person and not replying to their questions. This has happened with a couple of different people and it happens both when they ring me or vice versa. We have resorted to using mobiles to contact each other as it is so annoying. For your information both landline and router are plugged directly into master socket and close to each other. I think I read somewhere that it might affect signal but there is no ther way it can be re-arranged as the leads are not long enough on the equipment. They are approx. a couple of feet apart. Hope you can help.

I haven't previously seen a fault of that type reported here. Have you tried a standard, corded phone to rule out an issue with your cordless handsets/base station?

Thank you for your reply. I was unable to get hold of a standard phone but have managed to borrow a spare phone which is another cordless type with a base station. I have put it on charge and will test it later and let you know.
