Extortionate per minute fees for calling a U.K. mobile (in U.K.) from my Sky talk landline

I recently switched to Sky pay as you talk on my landline as I very rarely use it.  Last month I had need  to call my son's U.K. mobile (based in London) from the home landline on a Saturday eve and we spoke for 32 mins. My bill was nearly £10 for that one call - that's ridiculous!  How can Sky justify that for a U.K. based call?

No justification required. The published cost of calls to mobiles and landline phones is 27p per minute, on the PAYT tariff.

So that's 27p per minute, @ 32 mins equals £8.64 plus the 25p connection fee. So that cost appears correct for the tariff you've chosen.

The default PAYG tariff is essentially unsuitable for anyone making more than an hour of outbound calls in any given month because the cost will exceed that of the 'Anytime Extra' subscription supplement.

I'd note that BT/EE/Plusnet has an almost identical cost per minute.
