My elderly in-laws want to upgrade their sky broadband but have just been told by the engineer that the existing "copper " phones in the house will not work afterwards and that they will have to plug one of their phones into the back of the router to get a service. The router is in the corner of the lounge and is away from the seating area and they also have extensions in other parts of the house so this is not something they want as they have limited mobility
I have BT fibre and they sell an adaptor that plugs into a power socket and converts a standard phone into a wireless one. They call them Digital Voice adapters. I have 2 digital phones and 3 "standard" phones all working at the same time .
Does anyone know if Sky has a similar product available?

No, Sky don't have the equivalent, I'm afraid. An alternative solution would be a cordless phone, with as many handsets as required to place them where needed.

That's a shame.. they missing out on a large customer base there that do not want to lose their landlines. Virgin are the same I found out as well. Looks like a provider move to BT is going to happen

Realistically BT has a heritage of making/providing telephone handset hardware going back over a century, and this just wasn't something rival telcos particularly wanted to get into. As @Mark39 indicates, a DECT basestation and remote handsets works just fine: that's what we have on our BT Smarthub 2.

Sky service is terrible. . I got the white hub for broadband connected at my 90yr old father's house but the land line phone hadn't worked for 2 weeks and Sky won't do anything about it . The phone is correctly connected to the hub but he can't make or receive calls . An absolute disgrace .

I had the same problem. Just reboot the hub and in a lot of cases it works. If not do a factory reset.

I would hope, as the previous post was practically a year old, they've been able to get it resolved by now!

Re: Do sky have digital voice adaptors to connect standard phones to the voip network?
I'm very disappointed and angry . I have been a Sky customer for 17 years. I renewed our broadband/landline contract and was switched to digital without my knowledge or consent. Landline didn't work. Engineer came and sorted it the problem in 30 seconds took the phone connection from the BT socket and plugged it into a router socket and wal la. Land line worked. HOWEVER none of the other 6 phones in the house didn't work. Engineer said we needed a DIGITAL VOICE ADAPTERS for each phone and our service provider, Sky, would provide them at no cost.. NO. I contacted Sky had the run around and told they would not provide them or provide a contribution towards they cost, £14 each. OTHER PROVIDERS DO provide them when they switch you to digital. ADVICE. Look to leave Sky and go to another provider. We need the phone lines my wife is handicapped and has mobility issues.

@Mjac85 it's news to me that Sky provide any sort of voice adaptor for their landline service. The only provider I know of providing that option is BT.
A cordless DECT phone may be an alternative solution.

BT/EE offers one adapter, as an option, during their online sign-up process.
