Do new customers need to sign up for internet calls?

My mum's looking to switch to Sky but anxious about getting internet calls. Can she move to Sky without getting internet calls (i.e. continuing with the current analogue landline - until it's switched off in 2025...?)

Check with Sky, but I don't think it's an option, I'm afraid.

Thank you, the order process prompted me to call them to discuss it further as they couldn't do it online. Ultimately analogue landlines will disappear anyway so perhaps best to do it now.

You've probably already discussed it with your mother - what concerns does, she have about  internet calls?

In case her broadband cuts out is the main one, and concern about mobile reception. I think it's mainly just concern about moving to a new system as the analogue landline gives her a bit of peace of mind. She does make most of her calls on WhatsApp anyway - so don't think internet calls. would be a big issue for her. Do you have internet calls, what's your experience of them?

I can understand her concerns about broadband failure. Power cuts might be another. Aside from those potential issues, I doubt she would notice any practical difference in using Internet calls, especially if she has a cordless phone. I don't have Internet calls but  @Highlinder, woukd you be able to comment?

@GrahamG76  & @Mark39  They are no different to having calls over copper unless you have problems with crackling on the landlne. The only difference is if there are problems with no broadband or a power cut then you have to use the modile to make contact with someone.

If someone has helped give them Like.

And I guess extensions in other rooms might become a problem so cordless would be the way to go.

Yes, as you've probably surmised, all phone sockets would be disabled, the only connection being via the broadband Hub's phone socket.
