I have a landline which I rarely use nowdays, but wish to keep. However, I get inundated with scam calls, unsolicited calls, no answer calls and none ever leave a message. This is very unnerving, especially as an elderly person, so I keep blocking them. I would like to change the landline telephone number but cannot find any way to do this. Sky's chat line doesn't help.

Neither Sky nor any other provider will change your number because of unwanted calls, I'm afraid. If they did they would be inundated with requests to do so.
You could activate the free Sky Talk Shield, and use its screening feature. If you do that, callers will be answered automatically and asked who they are, if they're not on your list of known callers. You'll then automatically be asked if you want to take the call. In my experience, scammers etc end the call as soon as they know they're not being answered personally.
