Change to Broadband and Sky Talk

Ok a few people on here have has similar problems.

I moved to Sky Broadband with SKY Talk Anytime INternational today to take advantage of the original Sky Talk package I had which OFtel said I could no longer have with BT landline.

Broadband is in and running  but there is a strange anomaly with landline calls.

I can still make and receive landline calls on my original landline phone as before.

I can make calls on the Sky VOIP connection but not recieve calls

Both services are using the same  telephone number (checked with mobile phone)

I assume that original BT landline will still be charging  me as it were for outgoing calls  and line rental   and my outgoing VOIP calls through router will be free (Sky Talk  International Anytime).

Now in some respects this is good in that I have a fall back hardwired landline. if I lose power.

BT should not be charging you line rental or providing any landline service. Thay should all switch to Sky. Sky VOIP calls are charged in exactly the same way as standard call charges. They're not free.

If your Sky service was activated within 24 hours or so, it's possible that activation isn't yet fully complete, hence the anomaly.

Re: Change to Broadband and Sky Talk

true sky voip calls are charged but the amount depends on which Sky Talk package you have. The sky talk  international extra is a single monthly charge (£14) iinclusive of calls to UK landlines and mobiles .It is inclusive of calls to 60 international destinations. In reality if one makes lots of calls the cost per call rapidly reduces to very little. While I was waiting to switch I had a month of BT call charges which cost me £60.

Anyway looks like the activation has completed now as the original bt landline has no service although the circuit is still connected to the BT exchange but cannot make calls out.....
