I joined sky last week and tried to connect my bt phones to the sky hub but they won't connect so I'm left without a house phone.

What do you mean? If it's the BT Digital Phone that connects via WiFi then this is locked to BT!

BT's Digital Voice phones are DECT, not WiFi. There is no DECT base in Sky's Hubs, so nothing for them to connect to.
You will need a regular landline phone physically plugged into the Hub.

Although the link between the BT Smart Hub and the BT Digital Voice adapter is, I think, WiFi, because it is triggered using WPS.

The entire DV system is DECT, the Hub's WPS button is dual purpose. Devices can also be paired in the web interface, bypassing the WPS button.

If your BT phone is designed for BT's Digital Voice service, it won't work with Sky. Any reasonably recent standard analogue phone should be fine.

Thanks Not great when Sky tell you it will work fine and then it doesn't!
