Broadband activated but killed the landland line for phone calls

As per the title, the broadband was activated on the 6th and it works fine but at the same time my house phone stopped working - no dial tone, cant call in or call out.

 

Tried the AI chat bot it points me to this forum.. I need help ASAP please

Depending what Broadband you had set up, does your landline now need to be plugged into your router and not the Openreach socket?

@Chessyc, yes, as @Daniel0210 posted, if your broadband Hub has a 'Voice' light on the front panel, and it's lit, your phone must be plugged into the socket at the back of the Hub. The wall socket won't work.

The engineer who came out set it up this way, the instructions online (as their is no phone number) says to use the socket - so ignore that and plug the traditional old school phone into the router?

@ChessycHave you tried the phone in the back of the router to see if you have a dial tone?

That is correct if the voice light on the router is lit up.

There is nowhere to plug a phone into the back of the router... Im assuming I have an old router, its a pretty dangerous situation as its killed the ability to call 999 etc.
