14 weeks since landline last worked.

It is now exactly 14 weeks to the day since our Sky landline last worked after Sky upgraded us to ultrafast broadband and removing our copper wire to full fibre. Since Sky seem uable to get us up and running again, if they could it would have happened by now. Is there any one out there with the technical knowledge to explain why our landline is not working as Sky seem reluctant to tell us just tell us the network team are managing and monitoring the situation? Just to help we have sent Sky photos of the set up and we have switched on and off several times also changed our phone and cable. One other question is it possible to change our phone only to another  provider and keep our Sky TV and Broadband, as the Sky cable from the phone goes into the Sky hub?

@Heather+Anne

Sky Talk and Sky Broadband are packaged together and can't be split.

In your previous posts, you've mentioned that Sky have been informed of a national outage affecting some customers. That's a matter for Openreach and unfortunately beyond Sky's control.

I doubt there's any provider that would give you a phone only service, even if it's technically feasible  - and as most rely on Openreach just as Sky do, I would guess they're in the same boat anyway.

Thank you for your reply at least that's cleared up one query.

Re: 14 weeks since landline last worked.

Mark,

I do not recall mentioning a national outage problem in the past but still If it was National surely everyone would be affected as in the word national  not regional. We asked Sky many times who is responsible for this problem and they would not commit. The problem is we have a poor mobile signal from our house so that is why it's important for us to have a working landline. One would like to think that with the power Sky has as a worldwide company they would kick openreaches backside and get things sorted.

Sorry, you're quite right, another user affected in the same way reported this in your previous thread. I don't know if your fault has the same cause, but the fact that Sky has issued a deadlock letter to you does suggest that it may be beyond Sky's control.

Re: 14 weeks since landline last worked.

Thank you Mark for your reply, We think you are right and Skys hands seem to be tied the same as ours. If we knew then what we know now we would not have had the upgrade done as frustratingly things worked very well before. I think if Downing Street or Buckingham palace had the same problems things would have been sorted many weeks ago!! The trouble seems to be that Openreach are untouchable and uncontactable and do just as they like without any come back. Not many years ago if things went wrong with phone, gas, electric etc you just contacted that particular company to get it sorted but now there are so many companies and hoops to jump through ( that's if they talk to you which is not easy to speak to a human being any more). People of our age get very frustrated with the why things are run now. Rant over and the last you will hear from us on this subject.

In theory, Openreach activities are monitored by OFCOM, but I suspect it's very light touch, and probably at a strategic level, rather than what they do on a day to day basis. In practice, I suspect Sky and the other service providers are at their mercy, as, consequently, are you and I.
