hi @falcok 

 

SKY + boxes are owned by you and thus any repairs are chargeable and I don't think SKY do any repairs to them any more - hence the option to upgrade to SKY Q. 

 

SKY do sometimes do deals on upgrading including upgrading for free but can be subject to limitations - such as taking out Multiscreen and/or only issuing a 1TB non UHD SKY Q box

Sky are a business and not a charity, if you want a better TV you would have to pay to upgrade

Sky box is not that old. I got an email a couple of weeks ago about upgrading for free and when i never took this up my box starting getting stuck. Even if I own the box i am paying for a subscription i cant get so surely that is skys fault

I pay sky for programes and if i cant watch as box broke so how is that correct.

You're also paying for your TV licence an can't use that either so using your logic the BBC are at fault to 😞

I have got it out of stand by but it keeps happening . It has happened 3 times within the last month. How can this be as whe i do the software update all should be well but it happened again. 

As for the bbc I can watch that via the internet ON MY TV

If you're reluctant to upgrade to Sky Q perhaps you need to look at getting a replacement Sky+ box but be aware these haven't been manufactured for a good few years.

Hi I am not against upgrading I just dont want to pay for it. It seems a bit odd to me that when I never took them up on there offer my box starting playing up.

Are sky q any good?

I have had SKY Q for 6 years and very happy with it (as I think are many thousands of users)  but I really do suggest you read the notes I linked to earlier

Put it this way, I've had Sky Q and one mini box for 3 1/2 years and wouldn't go back to Sky+ (no offence @Annie+UK ), but the decision is yours but I will suggest looking at the helpful hints posts above by @nigea99

I'd suggest going back to Sky on the premise of wanting to upgrade, rather than reporting a faulty Sky+ box. Tell them you're keen to switch but don't want to pay any more for it. See what they offer.

 

By the way, even the most recent Sky+HD boxes were manufactured in 2015/2016 at the latest, so they're all a bit long in the tooth now.
