"Connection to On Demand" resets and fails daily

Long time Sky+ box.  No recent changes or software updates to either Sky+ box or router (connected by ethernet).  For about the last month it no longer connects to On Demand --- TV Guide screen shows "We're fetching your Today's Top Picks" and Search fails to find any programmes/is not populated with anything.  Which is the really annoying thing.

 

I go into Services > Settings > Network.  "Connection to Broadband Router" always "OK", and local IP address OK and DHCP "ON".  Sometimes "Connection to Braodband" says "FAILED" and sometimes "OK".  Either way I go down so I get the "Reset" button option, and click Red button to reset.  Settings flash for a fraction of second.  "Connection to ON Demand" is now "OK" even if it was not previously.  The other 3 settings do not change.  I am now connected and everything works fine again.  Phew!

 

This seems to last, I think, till next day.  I don't switch the box off at night, I guess overnight it goes into a "sleep" mode.  Whatever, by the next day I am back to no connection to broadband.  I repeat the "Reset" process and all is well for another 24 hours.

 

Obviously I am delighted that the "Reset" does work.  But am curious as to why, after all these years of functioning without, it is now required all the time?  What could have changed that it happens every day for me now?  It is irritating but not fatal!  Or perhaps someone else will come across this situation and my post for "Reset" button will work for them.

 

Any thoughts?

[Sorry, I forgot to say, and I can't see how to edit existing post here...]

I meant to say: I have tried every combination or reboot Sky+ box only, reboot router only, reboot both.  Nothing makes the Sky+ reconnect to On Demand so that it works.  *Only* going in and doing the "Reset" seems to sort it out.  Why would it fail when it does its own connect whenever and work only if I manually "Reset", that will surely not eb the first time it has tried to connect?

I can't help with why it's happening,  but you could try changing your standby settings away from Eco to stop the box going into low power mode overnight.

LOL, burn the planet down so I don't have to press "Reset" 🙂  Thank you, yes I take your point, though I won;t be doing it.  I'd like to see if anybody else is experiencing this.....
