cannot return equipment as dad has dementia and has thrown it away

My dad has contacted Sky to say he no longer wanted Sky as he moved out of his home due to dementia - he cannot return the equipment as he has thrown it away in error.   What shall we do?

If it's Sky+ equipment (where you've posted) it won't matter- he owned it.

It must be Sky Q or Stream equipment, then. As it can't be returned, Sky will charge a non-return fee. I'd give them a call.
