It is irionic that SKY + started when every body is watching the Olympics. If I have to get SKY Q fine but it does seem a shame that the Red Button option is still not available on older SKY+ H.D. boxes.

All it would take in the promotion script would be "available  to all skysports subscribers on a compatible device check for details". I am sure after today's games will feel aggrieved like I do. Thanks for those who have appreciated my issue,

Sky help desk not open at weekends , more poor service only Monday to Friday. This IS a sky controlled format you need a sky log on, so I m sure sky see this. You clearly are a sky defender .

I admit  that the majority of comms. I have seen do not specifically highlight the limitations of SKY +/HD - they have just done so by omission - i.e. specifically mentioned on SKY Q/Glass/Stream but not mentioned SKY +/HD 

Unfortunately,  it can be easy to assume things when they aren't explicitly mentioned

I know it is not the same as via a TV but if you do have access to a tablet you can watch that way.

The old red button access relied on additional Satellite channels - there just isn't the Satellite capacity for all the alternative games which leads into the switch to using streaming via apps which the older SKY+/HD just can;t support

I know it is not the same but you can still watch on iphone/ipad or Android phone/tablet

The UK call centres are open at weekends but as you've discovered Sky Ireland are not. That's not a new thing.

Sky have been offering people with Sky+ upgrades to Sky Q at no additional cost for quite some time now, so why should they offer their services at reduced cost?

Some people don't want a sky Q box so why should I pay for a service I can't access? They can split charges for HD and Ultra HD they should for this

If you want to stick with Sky+, like we do, then you lose the right to moan about missing features/services

Sky also offer a streaming service or there is NOW that also offers the sports content

@Deborah45  According to This article  the upcoming pre season games are on regular linear channels and not the new streaming platform so you will be able to watch them , so unsure where you got the information from that they wouldn't be

In order to be able to take advantage of the full range of content available, yes, you would need to upgrade to a device capable of receiving streamed content. That includes Sky Q, Sky Stream and Sky Glass.

Sky+ isn't capable of receiving streamed content, so you're limited to the one linear channel, and whatever content, if any, is made available via On Demand.
