SKY Sports + is limited on SKY + /HD  - on the box itself you only get the linear SKY Sports HD channel.

All other content which would have been accessible via the red button  or is now additional is availble to you but not on your TV - it can be watched on an iphone/ipad or android phone or tablet (not a desktop PC or MAC)

The app with its content is availble on SKY Q so you can access it & watch on your TV

Thus,  if this content is important to you then there are definitely benefit in upgrading - but do also see my notes I linked to above

BTW you may have read elsewhere the SKY SPorts app only allows you to watch live with limited highlights afterwards

It was very specific in the promotion, it said its free to all existing sky sports subscribers !!!! I am a sky sports subscriber !!! Its didnt say it was free to all sky sports subscribers only with a Sky Q box and above .  Some would say thats deliberatley misleading .

We are also annoyed as tried to watch a league 1 football match on the tv through sky sports + but as we have a sky + hd box were unable to. We did watch it through the sky sports app on a tablet but it is not the same.

I'm not a football fan but I can see that the experience wouldn't be the same when viewing on a tablet. Might be a reason to look at switching to Q or Stream?

I'm also a Sky+HD customer so also can't view the streams on Sky Sports +. Because of my involvement with this forum, I knew that would be the case well in advance of launch. The way I view it is that I couldn't watch all these EFL games before and I can't now, so nothing has really changed (other than other customers can). I also knew that if I wanted to remedy this, a switch to Sky Q or Sky Stream would be necessary but I've decided to stay with Sky +HD because I like it.

Realistically Sky+ HD is an end of life hardware platform last manufactured a decade ago which will not (and cannot) receive the vast majority of the Sports+ service, irrespective of how grumpy its remaining users get.

Sky probably calculates that the vast majority of Sports fans have already migrated to Q for the UHD functionality.

I think you may be reading too much into some people's experiences with mini boxes. which is usually  down to the ability to establish a stable wifi connection between boxes

I know I  will have to get a new SKY Q box soon. If they freeze do I have to turn off the SKY Q box at the mains?
