What is the impact of Sky HD Box to stop recieving updates

Recieved a letter saying that Sky+ TV box will no longer receive software enhancements. and offering us a SKY Q upgrade.

What is the impact of SKY+ TV Box stopping recieving upgrades and enhancements
will it affect availability of any channels?

is the service being deprecated?  if so is there a turn off date?

Sky Q update wont work for us.  my parents are in their 80s and cant handle a change to interface

and we live in an apartment building and the management company are refusing to make changes to LNB to enable us to upgrade to Sky Q

There hasn't been any software updates or enhancements to Sky+ boxes for several years already. The likelihood is that it will continue to work until the hard disk eventually fails. Sky have so far withdrawn engineer support, the red button, and some interactive services. They haven't announced any intention to remove channels, or any date for its turn off.

Sky now has a deal for satellite data carriage with SES, owners of the Astra cluster, through to the end of 2029.

Beyond that, the future for satellite television broadcasting to the UK is looking distinctly uncertain.

Note however that Sky+ HD is already 'deprecated' in that it cannot do UHD or multiple simultaneous recordings, host on-board apps or access Sports+
