Updating Pace mini box to receive HD content

Is it possible to update a 12v Pace mini box to receive HD content which was changed from SD earlier this year?

You can only replace the box with a second hand Sky+HD box from the likes of eBay etc...

No: if the hardware wasn't originally capable of HD decoding then there's no way for it to become so.

There do appear to be more modern 12v HD satellite receivers around, but I'd think those are free-to-air only.
