We have had two TVs conncected to our sky+hd box for years. Sadly, the one that is connected via the link has died and when we moved the other TV, which is a far newer model to see if it would fit in the available space, nothing works. It is a Panasonic HD ready LED TV first made in 2019. Does it not work because it is a newer modlel than the one we had before for I cannot get any signal although the set up is the same as the old Panasonic TV that we used in the second room before?. Is there some special setting on either the TV or in the Sky box that I would have to enable. I am frightened that, when I buy a new TV, neither will work using the Sky TV Eye link. Any advice would be appreciated.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou need a TV with an analogue tuner, most YVs don't have one these days

If your Sky box's RF Output Channel is set to the default channel 68, your tv will never find it, even if it has an analogue tuner. You can change the RF Output Channel in your Sky box settings, to one somewhere below 50 which your tv will be able to receive.

Thanks for that. I'll need to investigate to see if that is the problem. I shall try tomorrow

@Mark39 . I have tried to set up the TV by changing the RF output to below 50, joined the TV to the Sky+ box wirth arial cable and then I did an automatic channel scan but nothing was found. Interestingly the old TV, which needs replacing, works when the RF output is at the default 68 but does not work when it is changed. So is there some way to find the optimal RF output to work theTV as it is possible that I have not chosed the correct output setting?

On the new TV, you might need to select a manual scan so that both analogue and digital frequencies are covered (BTW have you established that it does have an analogue tuner?)
To find an 'uncluttered' channel, you would need to know the name of your local Freeview transmitter. The channels it uses can be found on the web (I'll see if I can track them down if you tell me which transmitter is local to you.)

@Mark39 . This is not actually a new TV but one that had been used for a couple of years directly connected to the sky+HD box by a scart lead. We were planning to move it the the second room to replace the one that is dying and buy a new one to have as the main TV. It is possible I might have to restore this TV to factory settings to get it to connect. I did try both the automatic and manual scan with no success. We do not get Freeview here as our only means of getting any TV is via satellite. It does talk about an analogue tuner in the instructions

hi @cuan22
you do need to make sure you are selecting the analogue tuner.
Probably most more recent TVs do not have an analogue input and those that do sometimes bury the option.
I think have read that some TVs do quote analogue tuners in manuals but the software only allows it's selection in certain countries which usually exclude the UK as we have not had analogue transmissions for many years now

The UK Digital Switchover was between 2007 and 2012.
