Sole Use of Sky Communal Dish
I live in purpose built block of flats that had a Sky dish installed 15 years ago. It would seem that i am the only resident using it. I have had some signal problems recently & have been having some discussion with a local aerial/satellite installation company. Sky have also recentley been in touch advising my Sky + can be upgraded to Sky Q at no cost to me. Local company states that if I was to switch to Sky Q, then the communal system (despite nobody else using) would need to be upgraded for Sky Q. They also suggested, that i have my own dish fitted, at cost solely to me, as would be my property rather than communal system. I wonder if someone could offer some further advice, before i make a decision & contact the building management company.
Many thanks

Re: Sole Use of Sky Communal Dish
You probably need to speak to your management company first to establish whether they'll allow you to have your own dish. If not, your options are limited to having the communal system upgraded. That would also require the consent of the management company which might not be forthcoming. Even if they approved, they may conceivably require you to pay the cost of the upgrade as you're the only occupier with a connection to the system .
It sounds as though Sky are unaware that you're connected to a communal dish. That might also have implications for the practicalities of having your own dish installed and the cost to upgrade.
