hi @casjen1

As a SKY HD user , although you may  have access to the extra games via the app on mobile devices you don't have access via the SKY HD box and thus on TVs with larger screens than Tablets.

I suspect the wording in the email may be, shall we say,  a little loose on this.

@casjen1  if you are watching the 412 linear channel then that isn't affected

what the email is referring is the bonus streams behind the red button on that channel sky plus boxes can no longer press red to get those streams, so you will miss out on those games through the box unless you upgrade

@nigea99 I've had the email as well and the bit in bold is exactly what I'm hoping will play out, I see no reason why it shouldn't

I presume the email makes no reference to the app (which I think many SKY Sports subscribers on SKY HD already use)

@nigea99  no it doesn't, but I wouldn't expect it to given sky what to try and get people off plus and onto current platforms, when it isn't actually necessary if like me the customer is prepared to use the app on mobile to access the bonus streams

Re: Sky sports +

I was mainly checking to see if it was just to me.   I have no interest in any app based matches so its irevellent in the end but the wording was still designed to scare rather than just saying it referrred to using the App on the tv rather than phones/tablets. Surely connecting my laptop to the TV by HDMI means I can use sky GO on it and watch them that way?

Re: Sky sports +

This is the wording

Enjoyed the Premier League season? Sky Sports is showing over 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more matches.

As a Sky+ customer, you currently don’t have access to Sky Sports+, where many of the additional matches will be shown. Because we want you to continue enjoying the best possible experience, we’re offering you an upgrade to a new Sky Q box at no extra cost and with no set‑up fees so you can enjoy every game available.

@casjen1  unfortunately you can't as sky doesn't permit their apps to cast and secondly it's not the sky go app that's required (this app doesn't carry the extra games) it's the sky sports mobile app for phones and tablets excluding pcs and laptops

Re: Sky sports +

Have just tried this. Dug out an extra long HDMI cable to TV  and Connected with extra long ethernet cable to router. Downloaded SKYgo for windows.  And am watching SKY sports+ in perfect HD from the laptop. I presume this is because im not casting.. Of course this is just the same as watching direct from SKY HD box. I presume from what you are saying that the matches will only be on the dedicated sky sports app which SKY have conveniently ommitted info for. But how will having 2 skysports + streams work then. With one going through the linear channel and a completely different one going through the sports App?

Hi @casjen1

In which case, if you do want to watch the extra games then you would need to upgrade to SKY Q, or Glass/Stream

As @SKY1992bf mentions the extra games are not on SKY GO (which does allow computers to connect to a TV via HDMI) but on the SKY Sports app that is only available on mobile devices such as phones & tablets

EDIT: Note there will be more games via the SKY Sports app that are not shown on the SKY Sports + channel which you can watch via SKY Go (This is the same for other sports like Tennis)

We agree, however,  that the email seems aimed at trying to get customers to switch

Re: Sky sports +

In the end its not going to affect my viewing really as I expect most of the "exclusive" stream games will be fairly lowkey in order not to lose out on mainstream viewers. The occassional game that would watch can be caught up by recording the PL highlights on the Premier channel and if they decide not to show them then so be it... One less viewer for their adverts and probably more customer complaints..  Thanks to all who replied.
