Sky insisting channels can’t be switched back on and that I upgrade to Sky q

I couldn't pay our bill in time and our channels were suspended. We paid some initially and there was an agreement that our channels would be switched back on. They started working again but were shortly switched back off again.

I called again and was told that the bill had to be paid in full for the channels to work but it has now been paid and the channels still haven't come back on.

Only today I've been told that the signals have been sent, the channels are showing they are working at their end and that the reason they aren't working now is because it's Sky+ hd boxes and they have no way of getting them back on and that we have to upgrade to Sky Q. I don't understand why they would say they can't switch them back on when they were back on with no issues for a while.

We have 3 boxes. One from 2009, 2012 and 2019 and it's only the oldest one that's working! Is it a satellite issue and is there any restarts/updates I could try to solve this?

Thanks!

It's not a satellite issue as that would affect everyone.

Have you re-setup your direct debit? It's cancelled when your account becomes overdue, and needs to be reinstated before you have access to your subscribed channels.

@Jord1872  A satellite issue would affect millions of subscribers not just one individual box, if it were a satellite issue the community would be in meltdown with the influx of posts.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

2 pedantic replies lol, I was obviously meaning if it could be issues with my satellite dish.

I was on looking at my account and there is only the one box showing in up in my devices, don't think the odds are good but will give the direct debit route a go

@Jord1872

The earlier replies are correct. When services are restricted due to non payment Sky won’t reinstate them until you’ve paid what they believe you owe (regardless of any individual circumstances) and you’ve also set up a new continuous payment method.

If your payment is two or more weeks overdue you will have to pay the next bill as well and if you’re in arrears for 56+ days Sky can fully terminate your subscription.

Once your full payment has cleared and is in Sky’s account your services should be reinstated, but this may not be instant.

You should be able to set up your direct debit via the MySky app or online using this link

Re: Sky insisting channels can’t be switched back on and that I upgrade to Sky q

As stated in the post the bill has now been paid in full and they told me a number of times that it would be switched on but hasn't been, they then changed their tune yesterday and said the channels couldn't be switched back on as the boxes are too old. I am unable to record and watch the likes of Sky Sports even though they told me the subscription is up and running. Is this a common thing and can it be fixed?

@Jord1872

Sky+ HD ceased manufacturing a decade ago and is only still in use by a small percentage of television subscribers.  Last year Sky ceased offering in-person installer support, and it's no longer possible to pair an existing card with a replacement (second-hand) box.

While this probably isn't directly related to your particular issue, it's indicative of how the Comcast Corporation regards that platform.
