Sky hd box not working and sky is impossible to get in touch with

My sky hd box is on standby and will not turn on manually or by the remote control. I tried every tip given to me, to no avail.

Why is sky impossible to ring and speak to a person. I'm going round in circles.

They're not, as evidenced daily by posts on the forum.

I think because we have a an older box, the help isn't there. I have tried every which way to rectify our problem. 

I think it's time for a change

I will be leaving sky as for over 20 years I've been a loyal customer and pay £140 per month for an absolute shoddy service. 

I have tried every link and phone number to get help with my sky, to no avail.

Sky+ is a legacy product no longer supported by Sky so although they'll provide advise on the phone they won't send an engineer and you can't use the viewing card in any new box you purchase.

 

To cancel all your TV subscription, if you’re out of contract you’ll need to give Sky the required 31 days notice. The latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term.

Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to contact details.

(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ The link may include an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.

If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.

My sky hd stopped working at the beginning of the week. The standby light is stuck on red. I have tried turning it on both manually and by remote control. I've tried rebooting the box. I've turned it on and off, unplugged it. I have been trying to get help  from sky, but end up in a vicious circle with the same answers.

If that doesn't resolve it, your box has had it, I'm afraid. Unfortunately that means upgrading to Sky's current satellite platform - Sky Q, or switching to Sky's streaming service via the Internet- Sky Stream.

The youngest Sky+ HD boxes are now a decade old, so unfortunately mechanical or electrical failure is increasingly likely in the very small percentage still in use.  Given Sky transitioned over to the Q platform in 2016 and then Glass/Stream in 2021, the end of ongoing support for Sky+ /  Sky+ HD (originally launched in 2001) is perhaps not entirely surprising.
