Sky has stopped operating on my tv

Must comes on but the sky remote is having no effect. I have changed the batteries

Have you tried rebooting your Sky+ box at the mains and after powering it up wait a further 5 minutes for it to finish loading up.

Does the power light on the front panel change to green when you use your remote to turn on your Sky box?
