Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
About sky hd boxes, sky will tell you there finishing soon, because they want you to go over to the q boxes, ive still got a sky hd box,if it breakes down sky wont mend them anymore, but i think you can still buy a replacement from Amazon. i keep deciding do i really want to stay with sky, because we get all of these free film apps now today, but i do know there showing more premiership football matches next season, really thats really all i really want sky for.

@sweetheart4321 just a heads up: it's no longer possible to use a replacement sky+ box, if yours breaks down.

Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
Thank you too Nige.
I'm considering going over to Q but have a number of concerns.
Firstly, my dish is very high up on the chimney stack and previously SKY have refused to work on it. Consequently I'll have to pay for the new LNB to be fitted.
Secondly, I have Wi-Fi issues due to having a large house with thick walls and therefore have concerns over multiroom connectivity. The person I spoke to earlier in SKY retentions said he wouldn't recommend Q in these circumstances as the Miniboxes no longer have boosters and just rely on mesh instead. Does the Minibox connect directly to the main box wirelessly or via the broadband routers wireless network?
Thanks in advance for any further help.

Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
.....Thirdly, how much longer is Q likely to be in commission, as it still uses dated satellite technology?

Sky has a contract with SES (owners of the Astra 28.2E cluster) through to the end of 2028.

A Q Mini will connect to a Sky Broadband Hub or Sky broadband boosters.
It won't connect to non-Sky wireless hardware or the newer Max Hub and its matching 'pods'.
