Sadly my Sky+Hd box IS impacted by this change.
Have lost bbc, itv and channel 4 channels already.
Sky confirmed my Building's communal infrastructure does not support Q. Our management company looking at options but looks likely my will be forced into Stream or to cancel completely.
hi @Skipster1
Do you have a SKY + SD only box or do you have a SKY HD box ?
If the latter (a SKY HD box) then you should not be loosing any channels
I suspect your problem is not the SD switch - BTW Channel 4 has not switched off it's SD channel
What errors are you actually getting

Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
Hi @nigea99
The message is no satellite signal on those channels.
i've called Sky and been told that my Sky+HD box is an older model and no longer supported so will and is losing channels.
Yes have thankfully found CH4 in the high number range.
A few others in my building are experiencing the same.

@Skipster1
If you are connected to a communal dish your building management company / landlord will have their approved engineers to contact and provide them with advice on the way forward.

yes unfortunately SKY HD boxes are no longer supported by SKY but, also unfortunately, many advisers seem to be saying the SD switch off will affect SKY HD boxes when it won't
your problems are with your feed which as @Daniel0210 says you need to raise with your Housing management

Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
Hi @Daniel0210 yes that is underway as a conversation however the answer so far from the company the building uses/used is £££ which they aren't keen/going to pay.
They are still investigating options.

Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
Contact OFCOM . I believe that Sky must supply those free to Air Channels if you are subscribing to meet their Broadcasting License ( might be wrong but I don't think so )

OFCOM will do nothing so this suggestion is a waste of time 😞 Sky do supply FTA channel to people with the correct equipment

Sky is obliged to list and so provide access to the designated Public Service Broadcast channels through its EPG: it is not itself a PSB broadcaster and the majority of 'free to air' service is not PSB: that's only channels 1 to 5 and their variations.
Antique satellite reception equipment still in use by only some thousands of households can no longer decode the broadcast signal format which is now carrying actual PSB content (plus other channels) and so Sky is offering subscribers with those boxes more modern hardware at no additional cost so that its EPG can function as intended. It is not the responsibility of Sky if a building owner chooses not to enable the use of such equipment by its residents.
It's inconceivable that the change in broadcast signal format from DVB-S to DVB-S2 wasn't run past Ofcom first, nor is it particularly realistic to expect to continue using receiver hardware which is now two decades old and two generations behind what is being offered.

Re: Sky+ HD boxes are closing down?
The change involves switching channels from DVB-S to DVB-S2. DVB stands for ‘Digital Video Broadcasting’. DVB-S was the original broadcast standard for digital satellite broadcasting, introduced in the late 1990s with the arrival of Sky Digital in the UK and Ireland.
DVB-S2 is a newer, more efficient standard. The arrival of DVB-S2 facilitated the roll-out of more bandwidth-hungry HD channels on satellite. As a result, DVB-S2 support was incorporated in all HD satellite receivers.
Until now, SD channels and radio stations were always carried on satellite transponders in DVB-S mode. HD and UHD channels on DVB-S2 transponders. 2024 has seen the end of that arrangement. As a result, providers of satellite TV channels can now bundle any combination of SD, HD and radio on a DVB-S2 transponder. The configuration is based on the broadcaster’s needs and capacity requirements.
This change means users of older DVB-S only receivers (i.e. SD receivers) will continue to lose channels, even if the channels continue broadcasting in SD on satellite.
