Hello all!
I have a Sky HD box which I am connecting to a project via HDMI over ethernet. In general it is fine, but there is a sporadic flicker which causes picture loss for a few seconds and loss of sound momentarily. It seems to be particularly noticeable when watching live sports - it doesn't seem to happen much or at all when watching recorded TV shows from the planner.
I've tried using a chromecacst to watch things via the same HDMI/ethernet setup and have not noticed the issue.
Any ideas?

Find out moreI have a Panasonic DVD recorder connected in the same way and it does exactly the same thing - an occasional momentary loss of sound and a less frequent momentary loss of picture. I doubt it's Sky box related. More likely a short glitch in transmission from the sender. The receiver I use has a manual equalisation adjustment, use of which minimises the problem.

Hi Mark,
What do you mean by the sender and the receiver? Either end of the HDMI/ethernet adapters? I think it's a few years old, do you think a new one would resolve the issue? How about the age-old turning it off and on, which I never do in general?
Thanks!

Yes, exactly that, the sender being the Sky box end, receiver, the projector.
Turning off and on is always worth a try!
If the adaptors are a few years old, a current version might help. The tech has certainly advanced: the ones I'm currently using require a single Cat5e cable whereas the ones I previously used required twin cables or Cat6.
Incidentally, I may have solved the dropout issue with my setup by replacing the unnecessarily long (folded), and not very good quality HDMI cable between the Panasonic and sending adaptor with a short, better quality one, so cables might be worth a look too.

Never a good idea to fold cables ... they should be coiled,😉

Mark, just thought of one thing - as I mentioned above, when I connected a Chromecast to the HDMI/ethernet adapter, I didn't notice any problems. And I *think* if I am watching a recorded program via the Sky Box, then there are also no problems. The flicker seems to only happen when watching live TV (which happens to be almost always sport - though that might be a red herring!)..
